He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:32 NKJV
Sometimes, in our minds we consider some of our desires, dreams and requests so Intimidating, so great and so farfetched that we often think we need to do something extra to impress God in order for Him to grant us “that great thing”: fast more, sow seeds, make vows or do all kinds of trade and barter with God.
At other times, we think our mistakes, failures, shortcomings and sins are so great that something other than the blood of Jesus is required to obtain forgiveness. We think we need to roll on the ground, cry bitterly, strip naked, fast for several weeks (I am not in any way against fasting), sow a lot of seeds, etc. to obtain forgiveness or be able to receive that thing that’s so precious before God, so mighty and great, greater than Jesus Christ.
There is no sacrifice that will be as close to that which Christ has made. In heaven, on earth or beneath the earth, there is nothing compared to Him and if God was so willing to give Him for us, what else won’t He give or better still what else hasn’t He given together with Him? God said Jesus’s sacrifice is enough for all of humanity’s sin. He said giving Jesus was worth more than giving heaven and earth and all the things and beings in them. My brother and sister, let that be enough. So if God was so willing to give you Jesus as a sinner, what else won’t He give you now as His child? The sacrifice of Jesus is more than enough for all our failures and any desires or requests we might have.
Perhaps even more fitting to remember this is on the day when we celebrate the historical birth of Christ. Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance.
