Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

Colossians 4:2 NKJV

I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

Habakkuk 2:1 NKJV

Prayer works, but it has not worked for many of us. This is because we have not done it the way the scriptures prescribed we should do it.

We learnt yesterday from the master Himself the attitude we ought to adopt towards prayer. We learnt that prayer is not a one off thing, but rather we should pray and keep praying until we see the desired result.

Prayer is a spiritual exercise that involves the total man; spirit, soul and body. It is a spiritual and intelligent endeavor that involves the mind, reasoning and alertness. When you pray, your mind is involved, your cognitive mind is engaged, your reasoning participates and your imagination is at work.

You see, prayer is not just some magic wand you wave to make things happen. It is an exercise that involves God communing with us, correcting us, instructing us, giving us direction, painting and planting pictures and images in our mind concerning His will. It is the downloading of ideas, innovations, strategies and solutions from the throne of God. In the place of prayer our motives are purified, our hearts emboldened and confidence birthed.

God reconstructs our internal configuration to be able to see things at His level and conceive His thoughts. Prayer, more than changing things, changes us. Therefore, it must be done with an alert and involved mind.

To be continued…
