While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

II Corinthians 4:18 NKJV

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

II Corinthians 3:18 NKJV

The wisdom here is not to deny the existence of what is seen or try to change what is seen, but rather to give our focus, concentration and attention to what is not seen concerning us as codified in the holy writ. This is important because what you focus on determines your conclusion, your conclusion determines your decision and your decisions determines your outcome. The Psalmist laments “For I said in my haste, ‘I am cut off from before Your eyes’” (Psalms 31:22 NKJV). When you focus on the circumstances, you are certainly tempted to conclude just like the Psalmist – “I’m done for,” “there’s no hope for me again,” “I think I should just give up.”

What you focus on also affects your mental health, which in turn affects your relationships, your energy level and productivity. Things seen are temporary and when your life is governed by temporal things, you stand the risk of a jeopardized future. “But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. When I thought how to understand this, it was too painful for me” (Psalms 73:2-3, 16 NKJV). This is one way by which the devil cheats and keeps people grounded in life. However, the bible tells the believer to focus not on things of physical realities because they are subject to change. Don’t allow them determine your confession, decision, conclusion. Don’t let them sap your strength and distract your focus from what matters. They’re subject to change.

We superimpose the unseen realities on the seen situations by allowing things not seen as contained in the scriptures to fill, saturate and govern our thoughts. As you behold your true status through the mirror of God’s Word you begin to experience transformation first from within and it then continues to reflect on the outside.

I pray that the Holy Spirit fills you with revelation that brings about great revolution in your life in Jesus’ name.
