And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will do all my will.’

Acts 13:22 NKJV

It is one thing for a man to declare himself a man after God’s own heart and it is another thing for God Himself to declare that “this man here is a man after my heart.” David stood out as a man after God’s heart. It means David sought God for who He is, not for what he could get. Knowing God and pleasing Him was his primary pursuit. He became God’s favorite person.

Our Lord and savior Jesus says “seek the kingdom of God and all its righteousness and all these things will be added to you. All the things you’re chasing; husband, wife, job, cars, health, fame, money – all these  things will be an addition to you. Joy, peace, love, favor and all are not to be esteemed above the presence of God, above a relationship and fellowship with Him.

When your relationship with God is only built or based on things you can get from Him, you limit yourself to the least of God, to things transient rather than things of eternal value. You forfeit the chance to walk in God’s great purpose and experience God’s greater glory in life and in eternity.

We know what men call you, we know what you call yourself, but what will be God’s testimony about you, the man after my heart or the man after my hand? Make a simple heart adjustment and the Holy Spirit will be there to help you. Remember you are never alone, you have the helper – the Holy Spirit.
