Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Genesis 1:28-31 NKJV
The first and the only marriage God directly instituted was between Adam and Eve, yet we can’t exactly say it was a perfect success, seeing the human condition today. There are lots of believers who hold the belief that their success or failure in marriage, business, career, parenting etc. is in God’s hand. Many believe that how far they will go in life is in God’s hands, but scriptures show many examples that indicate that how far men go is a result of their choices, decisions and actions.
There are those who received the prophetic Word and yet never walked in the reality of those promises as a result of their choices. And there are those who through acts of faith wrote their names in the annals of history and earned their future generations a place in God’s agenda. It’s not enough to say what God has planned will happen if we fail to align with His purpose. Our role, choices, and decisions determine what happens to us here on earth, how far we go and how much we get.
The impact we make and the legacy we leave behind are all products of our choices. We all have talents, abilities, desires, dreams and time, however what we do with them is entirely up to us. God is ever willing and ready to help us but it is never His responsibility to do the things we have been empowered to do. The dreaming and the choices are ours. The pursuit and the endurance are all ours.
