Continued from yesterday…
Abraham is another whose heart has been bettered by the word of God. Obedience was easy for him because he was constantly in fellowship with God, the word of god had both purified him and built faith in him so when God demanded his only beloved son, it was easy for him to do because his heart was full of God’s Word, faith had been built in him and God-mindedness abided in him. He reasoned that if God had said that in Isaac his heir would come and now He demanded him, then He had a plan to raise him to life. His reasoning was a product of a heart that is God minded.
We can see that obedience is easier with a heart that is full of God’s Word. A heart where God’s Word dwells, abides, resides, where God’s Word dwells richly. Such a heart will constantly be geared towards God’s will no matter how seemingly irrational, illogical, ridiculous and unbelievable it is.
David’s immediate conviction and repentance at the rebuke of the prophet is an indication of a heart richly filled with God’s Word. A heart that the word of God has sanctified, purified and tempered. Such a heart is quick to repent, easy to entreat and quick to forgive, simply follows God, is not too technical, easily trusts, believes the best of people, things and situations. People with such hearts find it easy to seek the face of God for everything. David was constantly seeking God in all he did, even when he made mistakes he was quick to admit, acknowledge and repent. In most cases even when he had reasons to justify himself, he would rather take the blame for others. He was indeed a man after God’s heart. He had a tender and sensitive heart, easily touched by things offensive to God or anything that has to do with God. A heart tempered by the word hardly nurse ill will to others.
So at this point I’ve got to pose the question, what is your heart filled with? What is within you?
God’s word 🙏
