Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:1 NKJV

Solomon Northup was a freed black man in New York in 19th century America during the days of slavery.  He was a professional violinist and a farmer. He was deceived into a musician’s travelling job to Washington D.C. where slavery was still legal. He was drugged and kidnapped and sold into slavery in 1841. For the next 12 years Solomon Northup fought for his freedom.

The slave master never wants to see the former slave free and therefore always seeks ways to recapture him and lure him back into bondage.

The forces and the mechanisms of bondage are always prowling around to perpetuate their activities in the lives of their ex-victims through lies, deception, pressure, manipulation, ignorance, etc.

Christ, through His sacrifice for us, has fully paid for our freedom from sickness, sin, poverty, failure, fear, witches and wizards, and every work of the devil.

But the devil is working tirelessly to keep us in bondage to those things through lies and deception, preying on our ignorance.

Therefore, we have a responsibility to stand our ground. Solomon Northup, for 12 years as an illegal slave, stood his ground and fought for his freedom. He refused to yield ground, succumb to fate or accept slavery as his lot in life.

If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. Since the son has made you free, you are truly free. Stand fast in your liberty from sin, bad habits, fear, sickness, failure, poverty and every work of the devil. Refuse to accept the lie that it is your nature, personality, your gene, etc. Stand on what Christ has done for you.
