A couple of days ago, we began examining the subject matter of turning the tides of challenges that we encounter in life. We examined the common reactions that we are predisposed to having as humans and how these reactions don’t necessarily yield any solutions to our predicament.
And then we went on to examine how exactly some people have been able to effect this turn in the tides we so desire. We mentioned repentance as one of the ways. Today we shall pick up from where we left off with the next thing in our list…
They prayed. Behold the reaction of Hezekiah when he received the word of his imminent demise from the prophet Samuel. He went to God in prayer and pled his case. And of course, the Lord heard him, and added 15 years to his life. Imagine if he had sat down to weep and lament over the news he received. Wallowing in self-pity would have never gotten him that new lease on life. Esther could have wailed for her people in light of the impending doom that was going to befall them, instead she made intercessions for them in the place of prayer to God before proceeding to intercede for them in the presence of the king.
Last but not least, they paid attention to receive instructions by the spirit of God when they prayed. “Whatever He tells you to do, do it.” Listen for divine instruction and obey. “You will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way.”
Prayer engages the ministry of angels and empowers the believer. So live in the consciousness of the goodness of God and continue to offer praise and thanksgiving and in no time, the tides will turn.
