“So you are going to be our king, are you?” his brothers taunted. And they hated him all the more for his dream and what he had said.

Genesis 37:8 NLT

Yesterday we began learning some salient lessons from the life of Joseph. Today, we explore further. Joseph was hated for his words which were products of his faith. Persecution literally arose for the Word’s sake. When you receive the Word and begin to declare the Word, persecution will arise for your bold declaration of God’s Word. “We shall see how his confessions will come to pass.” The whole essence of the challenges is so we would abandon our bold confession of the Word. Like Peter, when we focus on the challenges of life, we abandon our confessions and begin to sink.

Amidst the plethora of negativity Joseph endured on his journey to fulfilling destiny, there are still a number of remarkable things about his character that we can take away from this devotional.

He was always well dressed. He always acknowledged God irrespective of his woes. He had a good attitude and was never one to lament or complain. He was exalted because the spirit of God dwelt in him. And so we see that his enemies ultimately pushed him into the will of God for him.
