And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice… My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
John 10:4, 27 NKJV
Christianity is a relationship and not a religion. It is a family and not a cult. It is about the Father God and His family. Therefore, fellowship that is, speaking, talking and relating with our Father in a love atmosphere is the key activity at the core of our relationship. “Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
When you are in constant fellowship with someone, you will know the following about the person; the person’s voice and the person’s ideology and belief system. You will therefore be able to predict what they can or cannot do under certain circumstances. What they can say or will not say.
Jesus therefore said “MY SHEEP KNOW MY VOICE.” Knowing comes from constant Fellowship. We need to fellowship with Him more to be able to recognize His Voice. Fellowshipping with Him is more than just presenting our needs to Him, singing one or two spiritual songs and hollering some scriptures at Him. It is relating with Him as a son to Father, and as a friend to another friend. He wants to fellowship with you, spend time with you, commune with you, interact with you, and share secrets with you. The more time we spend with Him, the more we know Him and are able to recognize His voice and understand His ways.
Knowing the voice of God is not a religious thing, it is a relationship thing. It is not an exclusive reserve of some spiritual giants, but the right of all the children of God.
