And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:18 AMP

You reflect what you constantly behold. You become what you constantly fellowship with.  You give birth only to what you conceive. The eye gate is the means by which we capture images. The image we constantly capture stays longer in our minds and are reflected in our lives. The more you see a hairstyle or a dress style, the sooner you find yourself adopting the style. A young man leaves home for school a descent dresser, in about a semester or two, he begins to sag his trouser. He is simply a reflection of what he has been beholding and fellowshipping with.

If beholding and fellowshipping with negative image impact on us so strongly, we can also apply the same principle to transform our lives positively. You cannot be beholding lack, poverty, failure and vices, daily interacting with and contemplating them and expect to produce, reflect and manifest abundance, success, prosperity, virtue, etc. in your life. You reflect what you behold, you are who you fellowship with.

When you, through the written Word of God, fellowship with God, interact with God, contemplate His thoughts and His ways, His wisdom will seep into your mind, His knowledge will enlarge your understanding, your mind will be tuned to think his thoughts and you will see His glory. And in no time, you will begin to reflect Him in everything you do. There is an amazing story in Genesis 30: 37- 43. How Jacob made plain colored animals to give birth to spotted and speckled ones, through the principle of beholding. As they drank water, the dotted rod reflected on them and they saw themselves as spotted and speckled. They mated in front of the reflection of the spotted rods, further enforcing the image of spots and speckles, such that they gave birth to spotted young; birthing what they beheld. 

Be deliberate, be intentional and be consistent, choose what you behold, choose the image you capture. The image you capture is the picture you produce. You cannot capture images of the Amazon jungle and produce pictures of New York City.  Go into the Word, capture the image of God’s glory.
