Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us …

Hebrews 12:1 NKJV

Imagine an athlete dressed in a three piece suit with a bowler hat to match, a pair of sun glasses, a Gucci bag in one hand and a walking stick, ready to sprint. Now you’re laughing because that looks ridiculous. It doesn’t matter if the person has the strength of Ben Johnson, the stability of Carl Lewis and the speed of Usain Bolt combined in him, he sure won’t be able to maximize the potential. He won’t go far. To go far and fast in life, you must be ready to lay aside weights, lighten your ship, detox your mind and decongest your life from things, issues, activities and people that weigh you down and slow you down.

Like a dear friend Osadebey once said; “You are the governor of the state of your mind”, so govern it well. Rid your mind of worry, bitterness, anger, malice, anxiety, unforgiveness, vengeful thoughts, unhealthy rivalry, undue comparison, wicked thoughts, and other things that clutter your mind, weigh you down and impede your progress.

The state of your mind determines the state of your affairs. Therefore, as the Governor of the state of your mind, it is time to lighten the ship of your mind to enjoy a smooth sail. Refuse to give residence permit to thoughts that leads you nowhere, provide no solution, give no answer, inspire no idea and stimulate no positive action. Let the Word of God serve as immigration officer to screen every thought that seeks entrance into your life. Post a “Positive Thoughts Only” notice at the gate of your mind.

Stop playing the victim. Be reminded that YOU are the governor, be in charge. May your reign bring peace and progress to your life, marriage, business and career.  Your Excellency!!! Happy governing.
