Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

Hebrews 2:1

God’s Word is life, medicine, gives direction, comfort and represents all that God is. It determines what God wants to do in our lives. It is the instrument through which our minds are renewed.

There is a very high tendency for us to drift away from the Word in the light of the ups and down of the day, the buying and selling of life, the hustle and bustle of Lagos (or whatever city you live in), and all kinds of human challenges. Sometimes we become so overwhelmed by the pursuit of our dreams and needs that we completely drift away from the source of our lives. Knowing our tendency to drift away, God has given us the antidote in his Word. “ERNEST ATTENTION TO THE THINGS WE HAVE HEARD” is a must if we must not drift, because that is the only way for drifting to be prevented.

Jesus said, “Search the scriptures for in it you have life” (John 5:35).

Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel, and he said to them: “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe — all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.”

Deuteronomy 32:45-47 NKJV

Let us set out hearts on it. Knowing our lives depend on it.

May our Lord Jesus grants you the grace to remain in His Word, never drifting away from it because your whole life depends on it. Amen. God bless and do have the most fruitful week ahead.
