Then He said to them, “FOLLOW ME, and I WILL MAKE YOU fishers of men.”

Matthew 4:19.

The call of God to each and everyone one of us is simple, clear and solemn. FOLLOW ME. Christ has not called us to particularly follow a man of God, a denomination, a belief system, a religious system, a particular doctrine, or a promise. Our call is to follow the person of Christ.

If you and I will pause for a moment and search our hearts, ask ourselves a solemn question “Am I following Christ or religion? Am I following Christ or the multitude, or the fad, a denomination, a particular doctrine? Am I following Christ or chasing after things; a blessing, a lifting, a promotion, a breakthrough? Am I following Christ for Christ or using Christ as a means to an end?

Part of laying a good foundation for our lives is getting our focus right or else we will be chasing shadows and end up at a wrong destination and with a wrong result. We will wake up one day to discover our lives have been spent in the wrong pursuit, chasing emptiness.

The word follow is a verb, an action word which means to go or come after a person or thing. In what you call Christianity are you going after the person of Christ or other things? Is Jesus just a name we use in religious circles or a person we are conscious of? A name we use as a code to get what we want from God or a person we come after and travel towards?

This is a call to make a shift in our hearts. It is time we realign our focus on HIM. Everything we are looking for is in Him. The consequence of following Christ is that we BECOME, because He will make us. Make us a success, great, rich, wealthy, healthy, happy and whatever it is He had designed for us in His great plan for our lives.

FOLLOW ME and I WILL MAKE YOU. Dare to make that shift today and your life will be a testimony of His glory to the ends of the earth in Jesus’ name.
