Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.

The key to consistent victory is unpredictable responses to new challenges. If you read our text from verse 8, the Philistines had attacked before. David inquired of God if he should go after them and God said go and he had victory. When they attacked again, David could have said “guys come on lets go, we did it before we can do it again using the same old strategy.”
The same strategy that brought you success yesterday may not produce similar results today. Times are changing, men are getting more sophisticated, problems are more multifaceted and competitions are getting stiffer.
Every day you need fresh ideas, new innovations, new insights, different perspectives to always be ahead of the competition. The key to fresh ideas is to learn to depend on God daily. David inquired again of the Lord.
The difference between David and the modern day believer is David asked God for ideas, strategy and direction he needed to engage the challenges of his time, but the modern day believer is always asking God to do it. God doesn’t operate here, you do.
We don’t just pray to God to take the problems away and bring success anyway. We seek God to give us insight, ideas, innovation, direction and strategy to engage the challenges of our time. Daniel the technocrat sought God for revelations, to solve political problems; Joseph, ideas on how to solve economic challenges; David, war strategies. What are you into? How are you seeking God?
You may have stayed so long on the same spot, producing the same old result and the world is leaving you behind. It’s time you injected some new ideas into that business, adopted some new strategy toward those challenges.
When we seek, God speaks, our victory is in doing what God says. God wants to daily load us with fresh ideas and new innovations. It is time to inquire of Him. I know you did yesterday, today is a new day with new opportunities and different challenges.
Arise, it’s time to inquire of the Lord again.
