Another person who didn’t yield His place up to the devil’s seduction is Jesus. The devil tried to seduce Him out of His place. Several times he came at Jesus with attempts to make Him forfeit His place, to make Him miss out on His purpose in and with God but He (Jesus) stood His ground and refused to give in to temptation.
For starters, Satan made sure Jesus lacked acceptance from the people who seemed to matter and who could have furthered His ministry and spiced things up for Him. At another time, he (Satan) entered one of Jesus’ trusted and ardent followers in person of Peter to persuade Him out of the idea of going to the cross to die, not so much because he loved Christ or cared about Him but because His death would mean his doom. He presented the idea of an alternative to death to Christ all with the intent of seducing Him out of His place in God’s purpose for His life and humanity’s redemption.
At Gethsemane, Jesus had to battle the thought until He won and surrendered to God and maintained His place no matter what it brought. Momentarily it appeared to bring pain, humiliation, betrayal, abandonment, forsakenness, sorrow, agony and death but eventually it led to resurrection, life, victory, glory, promotion and ultimately the redemption of humanity.
I urge you to carry this consciousness with you and be resolved to stay in your place.
