Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
James 1:21 KJV
Today I would like to charge us to explore the power of the Word of God to change our lives. The first thing you must note and allow to dwell in you, is the fact that God has designed His Word to be the instrument through which our lives will be changed into His fullness and not any other thing. So, stop looking for change and transformation through any other way; man’s theories, ideologies, religious rituals, an organization, a church, a man of God etc.
The Word of God is God’s instrument of change. You can learn from people, be inspired by a principle, be educated by an ideology, be inspired by a man, but true and lasting change, the type Jesus brought, the type we desire, the type that will make the difference in us, can only come through the Word of God.
The problem however with many of us is we don’t know how the Word can do this in us and at other times we’re not patient enough to allow the Word to have its complete course in us. The only remedy to this is to stay with the Word and to invite and allow the Holy Spirit to give it new life in us so that it may transcend from something that is merely read to something that is engrafted as the scripture above so distinctly describes.
