The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.”  This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

Acts 10:9-16 NKJV

We’ve already established the fact that when we pray, things happen. Our prayers cause things to happen in the realm of the spirit that eventually have impact on earth. In the above scripture, a great move of God was about to be birthed, a great barrier was about to be broken, a major purpose of God was about to be fulfilled, but then Peter needed to be prepared for it, fit for it. Our personal biases, mental limitations and fleshly interpretation of God’s mind must be done away with. It is always a man of prayer that makes himself available to be used of God.

When Peter went to pray, he made himself available to be prepared for the prophetic word. He made himself available to be rid of his personal biases that may serve as a hindrance to be used of God. When we come before God in prayer things always happen either to spark up a series of events or to align us with what God has already sets in motion so that we can fit into what God is doing.
