God is quite invested in our success, He wants us to do well in all aspects of our lives – career, ministry, you name it. And so he has planted in us all that we require to achieve greatness. However, a lot of people never reach their full potential even with all of the skill and talent they possess. In today’s devotional, we’ll be discussing a few things that help us make a success of what we have.

Value: If we do not value what we have, it will never amount to much. Many people have the wrong attitude towards the gift they have been given, seeing it as inconsequential or insignificant. If Jesus had treated the five loaves of bread and two fishes in John 6:8-9 as merely a young lad’s insignificant lunch, the five thousand would have gone hungry.

Diligence: Diligence is paying attention to what you have and choosing to work at it. What you feed grows. What you work at develops. What you practice, you master. People pay you for what is excellent not something crude. It is what is mature that benefits humanity. (Read Colossians 4:17 and I Timothy 4:14).

Hard work: Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. We need not be afraid of exerting all our energy and investing all our time in our pursuit of success. (Read Proverbs 22:29, 10:4, 12:24 and 19:24 for nuggets on hard work).

Focused tenacity: The sheer severity of single mindedness and focus are enough to push us from where we are to where we want to be in our endeavors. Focused tenacity will motivate you to work hard and fuel your diligence. (Read Philippians 3:13 and 1 Kings 20:39-40).

Stick-ability: Staying the course and sticking with the pursuit of your dreams will help you endure the fluctuations between smooth and rough patches. (Read Habakkuk 2:2-3 and Hebrews 10:35-39).

Put all of the above to work this week and watch success become your testimony.
