My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…
Hosea 4:6 NKJV
Lack is not an indication of scarcity or lack of provision. It could be due to ignorance, negligence, lack of exploration or laziness. In Genesis when God created the heavens and the earth, He made everything in abundance. He put the power of self-generation or self-recreation into everything, from plant to animal.
Before the discovery of hydroelectric power, man was living in darkness. Although the means and source of power was all along available to and obtainable by man, due to lack of exploration, man lived in lack of power. Coal has the ability to generate power to facilitate movement, but man kept trekking long distances and carrying burdens, not for insufficiency, but for ignorance of how to harness coal as a means of transportation.
In the same manner, as believers in Christ we’re not meant to live in lack because God has already provided everything we need in our redemption package. We suffer lack primarily because of ignorance, lack of exploration and laziness. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” (Hosea 4:6 NKJV). Ignorance is the major cause of living below God’s provision for many of the saints and the only antidote for that is to pursue knowledge.
“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 KJV). We can pray all we want, and fast all we can, but until we make the pursuit of God’s knowledge a priority we will continue to live below God’s best for our lives.
