All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV
The believer should read the epistles regularly, pray for understanding and seek to apply them. Most of the epistles often begin with establishing the believer in the basis of our vital union with Christ and the sacrifice of Christ which is an expression of God’s love. They emphasize the truth of the gospel, the spiritual side of things, the intangible aspects of our redemption which of course form the premise of our relationship with God.
Then they go a step further to the natural, social, tangible and visible effects of our vital union with Christ in our relationship and interactions with everyday life issues, among ourselves and with those who are not in Christ. It’s usually easier for us to focus on the non-tangible things of the spirit that deal only with who we are and what we have based on the Love of God as demonstrated in the sacrifice of Christ and the victory we have occasioned by the resurrection of Jesus. And we tend to neglect the natural, virtuous consequences of this spiritual truth. The epistles often deal with both sides of things.
Furthermore we’re never left clueless regarding what to do in order to transmit the effects of our spiritual union with Christ into vital life experiences in our natural, sociocultural space and during interactions in the world. So this might just be your cue to start paying more attention to the epistles. There’s much wisdom to be garnered from them.
