And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Now there were set there six water pots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.  When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

John 2:3-10 NKJV

This wedding began on a very good note. Everything was in place, the food and the drinks were all in abundance, all the guest were seated, they even had celebrities in attendance. It was a beautiful ambience, the atmosphere was filled with soulful music, laughter and happy chatter.

This beautiful atmosphere was about to be ruined by lack, the insufficiency of an essential part of the occasion; wine. “And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”” There you go, the bad news: “They have no wine.” This would ruin everything and bring the party to an abrupt end leaving people disappointed and casting gloom on the groom.

However, when Mary called on Jesus and the servants followed His instructions, everything turned around. He restored and advanced them. Jesus did not only provide them with wine but gave the best. All they had was good, Jesus gave them the best. He upgraded the quality of their party in so many ways. Listen to the chairman of the occasion “…and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now” (John 2:10 NIV).

The miracle of Jesus did not just provide wine but the very best wine and improved the image of the celebrant.

What the enemy meant for shame the Lord will turn it to your upgrade, to your lifting, your advancement to a whole new level. Your best days are not behind you, they are ahead of you. When God restores a man, He doesn’t just restore the man to where he used to be, He always advances him. When God steps into your situation, He doesn’t just give you what you need, He shows you who He is.
