“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to YOUR ADVANTAGE that I go away; for if I do not go away, the HELPER will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send HIM to you… However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. HE WILL GLORIFY ME, FOR HE WILL TAKE OF WHAT IS MINE AND DECLARE IT TO YOU. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”

John 16: 7, 13-15 NKJV

The Holy Spirit did not come to represent Himself – He came to glorify Jesus. He came to be all that Christ was to His disciples. In the work of redemption Jesus paid the penalty for our redemption. He fulfilled all the requirements, all the conditions of justice for our salvation. Isaiah 53 tells us some of the prices He had to pay: “Surely He has borne our griefs, He carried our sorrows; He was stricken, smitten, He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

In the above paraphrased verses we see Jesus pay for our peace, health, righteousness, reconciliation with God. Our redemption though free was not cheap, it was fully paid for. Jesus paid with His blood. Our freedom from sin, Satan, sickness, fear and all the works of the devil was purchased by the precious blood of Jesus.

Now, what Jesus made legally ours by His blood the Holy Spirit came to make experientially ours by His presence in our life. He will take the things of me and declare to you. Christ has paid for this, you don’t have to suffer it again. He has obtained victory over this, you’re no longer slave to it. He has paid for your peace, you should not be troubled by this.

Therefore the work of the Holy Spirit is to make real in our life everything Jesus has purchased for us. By the presence and power of the Holy Spirit those things become established in us. Power to establish righteousness over bad habits and human weaknesses, power to quicken our mortal bodies, power of insight to navigate our way through the treacherous path in Life, power of peace in the face of imminent danger. The Holy Spirit is indeed our ADVANTAGE in life. Wouldn’t you rather walk with Him?

He is the guarantee of all that Christ did for us.

Read and meditate on the following scriptures: Isaiah 53; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Hebrews 9:11-15; 13:12; Ephesians 2:12-19; Colossians 1:20-22; Galatians 5:1; Romans 8:11.

I declare over you that everything that is yours through the sacrifice of Christ becomes physically and experientially yours now in Jesus name.
