And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Luke 24:27 NKJV

For long we have allowed the world to dictate our identity – the psychology books, the articles on temperaments, the TV show host, movies, our teachers in school, the counselors, zodiac signs and horoscopes etc. They have used such materials as our past, our performance on a particular subject or task, our pedigree, their personal prejudice and biases to suggest to us who we are and what we can do. These wrong and negative identities have limited us. Even when in our heart we dream of a better us, this identity in our head rises to challenge us – “that is not for your type of person,” “you can’t have that,” “you’re not qualified,” “you don’t deserve it,” “it’s too big a dream for your pedigree.” Creating a great conflict between who we really are and who we are told we are, between the dreams we have and the limits they have suggested to us. The identity we have come to accept rises to challenge us from aspiring to be the man/woman we have the potential to be.

Jesus showed us a better material to use in arriving at the definition of our true identity. He began from Genesis and all through other scriptures, revealed what God had said concerning us, who God says we are. “Beginning from Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them the things concerning Himself.” He must have showed them how He made Peter’s fish business to boom – “have dominion over all the fish in the sea.” “You see,” He must have said. “I only exercised the dominion over the material world given to man as written in Genesis.” The things concerning you are written in the scriptures; that is what describes the real you. Your true identity is fully illustrated in the scriptures.

Search and you shall find. I pray that as you search the scriptures, your life will be totally revolutionized by the revelation of who you are in Jesus’ name. You will rise to your full potential in Christ in Jesus’ name.
