“Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].”
PHILIPPIANS 4:8 AMP
When a man needs vegetables, flowers, fruit etc., he doesn’t just wait for it to grow in his garden all by itself. He goes out of his way to weed, plough and plant the exact vegetables he wants to harvest. But the same parcel of land left on its own will only yield weeds and wild flowers.
Our minds, like a garden, work pretty much the same way. That’s why God gave us the instruction on what to engage our minds with. The mind needs to be channeled to yield the particular result we desire to see in our lives.
Thinking is a deliberate and intentional activity. Positive result oriented thinking is a purposeful work. It doesn’t just happen. You make it happen. It is a full time job.
If you refuse to deliberately take control of your mind by determining what you put into it, the direction, the kind and quality of thoughts you chose to engage in, all that will grow in it will be weeds.
The mind has the tendency of wandering. The tendency of easily absorbing and nurturing negative and focus-less thoughts. You have the sole responsibility of deliberately engaging your mind on positive and productive things.
Make a decision today on the kinds of seed thoughts you will plant based on the fruit you desire to see in your life. “Wherever the mind goes, the man goes.” Your life goes in the direction of your predominant habitual thought. Take control of your life by taking control of your thoughts.
