Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”
Luke 5:17-20 NKJV
Yesterday we established that it is faith that activates the power of God. However, the problem with many of us is not that we do not have faith but rather, we give up too soon, we give up after a few attempts, we give up when faced with resistance, and we come up with philosophical explanations and religious conclusions to justify our failures, our inability to maintain our ground of faith until it yields result.
The above scripture reveals the relentlessness of the people. “They sought to bring in and lay before Him. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd…” But did they quit? Did they give up? Did they decide it was not the will of God for him to be healed after all? Did they say “well it’s not God’s will for him to be healed today,”? No! They didn’t say “we’ve tried our best.”
You see the goal was not to try their best, the goal was not to make an attempt, not just to try to see what could happen. They knew that if they could just get him into the presence of Jesus, his story would change. Hence, whatever it took to get him into His presence they were willing and ready to do. Relentlessness is a proof of your faith in the power of God and in the willingness of God to bless you. You remain relentless in spite of delays, detours, challenges, obstacles when you know what you want is available.
PRAYER: Father, help me to not give up at the sight of resistance, give me unrelenting faith in Jesus’ name.
