Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.

Luke 4:1-2 NKJV

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you

I Peter 4:12 NKJV

After “being filled with the Holy Spirit” you would expect the next episode to be “He returned in the power of the Holy Spirit and began to wrought miracles, signs and wonders” but as with Christ, that is not the case. After the spiritual encounter, comes the demonic encounter and then the result of that tussle determines whether or not there’d be a physical manifestation.

After your mountain top experience with God, the devil will come to throw all kinds of things at you, in order to sap out your fullness and quench your fire. Things that will make your spiritual experience appear insignificant and inconsequential, temptations and trials that will seek to pressure you to speak death and confess defeat rather than speak life and victory, situations and circumstances that will stir your flesh to get angry and lose your spiritual verve. Remember, Moses after receiving the Ten Commandments descended to see the children of Israel worshipping idols. In anger, he lost it and broke the tablets.

The solution to the lies and wiles of the devil is not in getting angry and frustrated and to begin to throw tantrums. Rather, the solution is to be full of the Word of God. Constantly speaking and living by the Word of God are the key to our victory. This is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith and faith is receiving, believing and acting on the Word of God.

May you walk in total victory over every work of the devil all through the rest of the year and beyond in Jesus name.
