Turning back in the face of battle. He mocks at fear, and is not frightened; nor does he turn back from the sword.

Job 39:22 NKJV

The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They did not keep the covenant of God; they refused to walk in His law, and forgot His works And His wonders that He had shown them. Marvellous things He did in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Psalms 78:9-12 NKJV

God promised the Israelites a land that flows with milk and honey, promised them an inheritance, promised them to become the head. But that which God had promised them was occupied by others. God has promised us what was once under the control of Satan. The devil will do everything not to relinquish it or try to recapture his lost ground.

There will be resistance, opposition and battle to obtain it. Hence the need to fight, not to accept what life throws at you but to fight for what God has given to you in Christ Jesus.

A lot of people because of ignorance of the enemy – Satan, as they step out to receive the promised blessing, retreat when they see war, opposition or face resistance. They are not lesser children of God, there’s just a knowledge gap and here’s what they need to do.
