Then the king’s servants who attended him said: “Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king; and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to Shushan the citadel, into the women’s quarters, under the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, custodian of the women. And let beauty preparations be given them. Then let the young woman who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.” This thing pleased the king, and he did so.

Esther 2:2-4 NKJV

In a kingdom spanning from India to Ethiopia, consisting of about 127 countries or provinces, majority of whom were living free in their countries and some of whom were from royalty, well cared for and highly connected, what are the odds that an orphaned, Jewish slave girl will win the beauty pageant and become the queen of the world’s most powerful kingdom in the land of her captivity?

Naturally speaking, Esther was at a disadvantaged position. Socially disadvantaged, economically disadvantaged, in terms of public relations she was from a highly hated ethnic group, the Jews. Perhaps she was beautiful, perhaps she was well mannered but the odds she was the most beautiful and perfect to win the contest and become the enthroned queen was indeed slim. However, she had something working for her that is far above and beyond any advantage anyone possesses and that was the Abrahamic covenant of divine preference (Deuteronomy 7:6, 14:2, 26:19; Exodus 19:5; Isaiah 43:4).

As you work on your skills, develop your talents, improve on your attitude, and pursue your dream, you must also cultivate your relationship with God. You must live in the consciousness of who you are in Christ, you must approach life with the mentality of the blessed and favored of the Lord. You must engage life from the standpoint of Christ’s Ambassador – a legal representative of Christ on earth with all the resources of heaven at your disposal and all the power of God backing you up.

Our relationship with God in Christ is our ultimate advantage and the odd that sets us apart. That’s the odds you will succeed at anything, the odds you will triumph over every crisis, the odds you will end well.

PRAYER: I am blessed. I am favored. I am God’s preferred candidate and God, my Father, is causing all odds to work in my favor in Jesus’ name.
