And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Revelation 12:11 NKJV
They overcame by the blood of the lamb and by the words of their testimony suggests that they fought. They were involved in a battle, in a conflict, which they eventually won and overcame their opponents and those contending with them.
The Bible did not leave us in doubt as to how they won or with which equipment they did so. Three things were mentioned to be responsible for their Victory:
- The blood of the lamb.
- The words of their testimony.
- A resolute attitude, a never-say-die attitude, a never-giving-up attitude. Luke 18 attitude, “they loved not their lives to the death.” But our focus is on THEIR TESTIMONY.
What is a testimony?
It is a spoken or written statements that something is true, especially those given in a law court; evidence or proof of something.
The Word of God is the testimony of Jesus. There are two ways to use testimony in the scriptures:
- Stick absolutely to what the Word says about you, a situation or a circumstance. Not your experience, your failings and your past disappointments.
- Continue to declare and proclaim what the Word says about you. In the face of contrary evidence and persuasive circumstances, refuse to say with your mouth that which is contrary to what the Word says. Instead, be resolute in speaking the Word.
Know the testimony of the scriptures and let it not depart from your mouth. Know and speak. That is the key to victory. Testify even in the physical absence of the promise and before you know it, you will begin to see what you have been saying.
What is the difference between testimony and word of testimony?
Godly Leadership won’t Succeed without a fight.
In order for Christian to find a way for the team to win, there must be a contest. In Revelation 12, the ultimate contest between the forces of good and the forces of evil. The hosts of heaven on the dragon and his angels. Good eventually wins out through the blood of Christ and the testimony of the believers (Rev12:11).
God designed us to win in community.
