Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].

1 Corinthians 15:58 AMP

Every form of service has its reward but it requires consistency, tenacity and going the extra mile for it to succeed. Sometimes in life, we go through a season, a moment of discouragement, times we feel we have given all and nothing seems to be happening. Here is to encourage us, “be steadfast & immovable.” Let nothing shake your devotion or move you out of your place of commitment to God.

There are forces that seek to move you such as; lack of results, negative talks, general apathy in the world towards the things of God, mistakes, character defects and failures of spiritual authorities, personal challenges, disappointment, personal failures, global or regional persecution of the church, gossip and backbiting, negative attitude of others, etc. These are forces that seek to undermine our commitment, sacrificial service and diligence to God’s work. These things work in different ways to poison our system and also affect our attitude and level of commitment to the things of God.

Let the end result, the purpose of your service in the house of God continue to inspire more commitment in you. Your service and labor are not in vain. Heaven is recording it and will reward it. It is never a waste, it is accomplishing something of eternal value in the lives of people and will bring about eternal reward to us. We are laying treasures in heaven.

Therefore, be steadfast, be immovable, keep excelling in the work of the Lord and keep giving it your all.

“Let’s not be weary in well doing, for you will reap the reward if you faint not.”
