If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Psalms 11:3

The scripture often compares us to an edifice. In construction, a building can vaguely be divided into three parts; the foundation, superstructure and the finishing. Of all these, the first and most important is the foundation.

Foundation takes time, lots of efforts, and resources. It is a time you put in so much with little progress to show for it. They are the lonely moments when your efforts are not rewarded, your presence not acknowledged or appreciated.

After a while you begin to feel the pressure to compromise standard, drop the quality and look for an easy way out. The devil begins to whisper to you, “Look at so and so, he has not put in much, yet he’s making it”, “are you the only one? Others are doing it”, “the end justifies the means so it doesn’t matter how you get there or get it”, “this na Naija o, shine your eye”. It’s amazing how we desire to have outstanding results, yet compare ourselves with compromised, mediocre inputs.

What are you building? A life, business, career, relationship, marriage, family, ministry, the year 2020, a dream? Whatever you’re building, don’t yield to the call to compromise, and don’t surrender to the pressure to be mediocre. Strive for excellence, give attention to details, be thoughtful, and be resilient. Though it takes time and is costly, it will yield the dividend at the end of the day.

Build that business with the next 100 years in view. Raise those kids with the future in mind. Invest in that relationship with posterity at heart. If the foundations be faulty you’ll begin to run helter-skelter looking for miracles and quick-fix solutions, which makes you to become susceptible to all kinds of scammers and gimmicks. That will not be you in Jesus name.

Now is the time to lay a good foundation for the future, a solid foundation for the rest of the year 2020. If you have a time travel machine and you travel to your future, say December 2020 or 50 years from now, how will it look like? How do you want it to look like? Like a Dangote, like Rockefeller, Warren Buffet,  Obama, Bishop Oyedepo, Pele, Mandela, Kennedys, Zuckerberg, Col. Sanders of KFC.  How do you want your business or career to be, like Coca-Cola, Ford Motors, KFC, GUCCI, CNN, FOX, Accenture, Microsoft, Mercedes, or Toyota? Now begin to build with that future in mind.

Ephesians 3:14-19. Pray and declare it over your life.

I pray for strength, stability, focus and the fullness of God in your life in Jesus name.

  1. Thanks for sharing these thoughts. Sadly most Christians think that they do not need to put in the work and to patiently pursue the life they desire with faith and all the work required. Jesus did not call us to “not carry a burden” He only promises that the burden will be light. Why? Because He is always with us to make it light. We truly need to appreciate the value of foundations and make sure we are in the trenches building the right foundations. Quick fixes don’t fix things, they only postpone the real deal. So apt for our Nigerian society where we seem to be so drawn to quick fixes.

    1. Awwwww. So good to hear from you. Thanks for your kind words. You are so right, Jesus didn’t call us to be indolent, lazy weaklings it is my prayer that many more people will come to this understanding and through the power of the holy Spirit experience a change of mind and a transformation in their lives. Kindly support this endavour by helping to share and invite others to this page. Once again thanks for your support.
